Evaluating Your Needs

Questions Answered

1. Shared, Dedicated or Colocation?
2. UNIX or Windows Operating System?
3. Choosing the right Database?
4. MultiMedia Support

4. Multimedia Support
If multimedia support is important to your site then you really should spend the time (and money) needed to obtain a level of host service that will meet your needs. To be fair, you cannot expect a great deal of support from a budget-price hosting account. Serving multimedia files to your visitors will require considerable of resources, particularly bandwidth.
FLASH AND SHOCKWAVE ANIMATION
While Flash and Shockwave animations appear to be rather dynamic they are in fact very static in nature. Assuming if they don't require any special server software they will work on any server that supports the associated MIME types

STREAMING MEDIA
Streaming media support is important if want to host live streaming video such as a webcast. If you do require streaming media you may opt to have a dedicated server set up specifically to deal with the requests and provide the resources needed. Even if you are not broadcasting live events, you may require commercial streaming software to provide the functionality need.
